If you are considering a good place to retire, then Winston-Salem must be on your list of options. This place placed high as part of a ranking for this very same subject back in 2012. 

Winston and Salem where two separated cities. In fact, you might even have heard about Salem and its spooky witches, but this is not that place you've heard of. So if you were feeling a little scared, we are happy to tell you that you'll be safe here from any spell. These two places were joined back in 1880 when the US Post Office began referring to the two places on the map as Winston-Salem. The rest is history, and for history, you might want to check a textbook! 

Winston-Salem is a place with a notable diversity in religions. In fact, this is the more varied place for religions in all of North Carolina. The city's long history with the Moravian church has had a lasting cultural effect. The Moravian star is used as the city's official Christmas street decoration.

While you are here, you can find very interesting activities to get involved with the area. You can visit the Old Salem Museum and Gardens, a place that was completely restored to look like the old town of Salem.

You will feel like you just traveled in time to a charming little place. You can also visit the Reynolda House that is now a museum. Remember that we talked about Camel cigarettes, well... this is the house of the family that started that business. His business and ideas were key to the development of this area of the United States. Now his spectacular house works as a museum where art by Georgia O'Keeffe, Grant Wood, and Stuart Davis are on display.

Every single exhibit, covering subjects such as technology, math, physics, arts, and others, is there to help prepare early learners for school and spark all children’s imaginations and their desire to learn.
