오클라호마 주의 도시 Tulsa 시는 한글로는 주로 털사 라고 널리 표기하지만 발음에 따라 툴사 라고 표기되기도 한다.

Tulsa is one of the most populous city of Oklahoma. Being the principal municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, it also serves as the county seat of Tulsa County.

It was settled on the Arkansas River at Ozark Mountains’ foothills in the northeast region of Oklahoma, known as the Green Country.

Tulsa is home to many cultural and arts centers, museums, and full-time professional opera and ballet companies, along with one of the largest focusses of art deco architecture in the entire country.

Tulsa’s cultural background is influenced by the Southwest, Midwest, and Southern cultural regions that are nearby. Also, there’s a deep historical Native American presence influencing all the city’s museums and cultural centers.

There are many things to do in Tulsa. With a large and expanding collection of public sculptures, monuments and artwork, there is always something new to see.

Most of Tulsa’s museums are internationally renowned. For example, there is the former Philbrook Museum of Art in Midtown, which is considered on of the top 50 fine arts museums in the U.S. It offers a variety of historic home, formal gardens and art collection, including artistic pieces from Pablo Picasso, Andrew Wyeth, Giovanni Bellini, Auguste Rodin, among others.

Another impressive museum is located in the Osage Hills in Northwest Tulsa. It is called the Gilcrease Museum, remarkable for the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West. It holds an extensive collection of items and interesting pieces.

Tulsa is known for its talented musicians, that is why the Union Station in this city is home to the Jazz Hall of Fame. It has numerous well-documented exhibits that explore the lives and works of musicians in high detail. There are performances live in the Grand Concourse on Sundays and free jam sessions on Tuesdays.

Another beautiful place to visit is the Blue Dome Entertainment District. It includes nine square blocks with trendy eateries, local pubs, and indie boutiques, making it one of the best nightlife locations. This place offers custom cocktails, fancy foods, and local bands’ live performances for the public, any day of the year.

If you want a shopping destination, there is nowhere else where you should go. Utica Square in Tulsa is designed to please the desires of fashion and home décor fans. It features a wide variety of upscale boutiques to buy purses, shoes, clothes, all kinds of shops, and time-honored department stores.

For the family, the city offers its own Tulsa Zoo. You can bring the kids and the rest of your family and visit the most gorgeous animals from the world, all in one place. From African lions, Australian kangaroos, South American jaguars, to Malayan tigers, all spread through 84 acres of wild exhibits. There is a Safari Train that tours people around the zoo and lets them walk through the caves, interact with animals in some petting areas, and enjoy the pre-Colombian ruins.

Another interesting place to take the family is Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium. It offers vintage airplane displays, interactive exhibits, and a 50-foot 3D planetarium dome. In this planetarium, you will be able to travel not only to the skies above Tulsa but also to alien galaxies located around 70 million light years away. You will see stars, planets and asteroids passing during your trip beyond the skies, which feels like a very unique experience.

Other remarkable locations to visit are the river parks, local shopping havens, and Tulsa’s Performing Arts Center.
