Saint Petersburg made its downtown a cozy and artsy place to enjoy galleries, museums, boutiques, and exquisite food places. This is very near the Tampa Bay waterfront.

플로리다주에 위치한 St. Petersburg 시는 한글로는 세인트 피터즈버그 라고 주로 표기하지만 세인트 피터스버그 라고도 표기하기도 한다.

This place is surrounded by water, so it’s the perfect location for you if you enjoy fishing, sailing, and beaches.

The city really takes care of the tourists and visitors. They publish a free guide named "Downtown St. Petersburg Guide & Map," a booklet with important information that is updated each season. The guide has maps of the city, trolley routes, museums, events listings and recommendations for hotels and restaurants. The best part: they have coupons! You can find the guide in dispensers throughout the downtown area and in many businesses.

When you are visiting here, you can move around by using the bus system. The buses will take you all over Saint Petersburg and to other close towns in the county.

Things to do in Saint Petersburg:

Visit Sawgrass Lake Park for a marvelous natural experience. You will be walking through one of the largest maple swamps on the Gulf Coast of Florida. They have a wooden boardwalk and trails that will lead visitors to discover the place and its many treasures. This is a great way to know about the local flora and fauna, so make sure you take your camera. Be aware, because you might even find a gator or two.

Go check out the Dale Chihuly collection at the Morean Arts Center. This place was designed specifically to fit the collection and you will be greeted at the entrance by a 20-foot sculpture that was created especially for the site.

A bit hard to get to (only accessible by boat/ferry), but visitors who make the journey to Egmont Key State Park can enjoy swimming, boating, picnicking, and looking for shells on the beach. The Egmont Key Lighthouse is the oldest structure still being used for its original purpose (although the U.S. Coast Guard has put it up for sale). Although just ruins remain now, Fort Dade was used during the Spanish-American War to protect Tampa Bay against attack by the Spanish.

Somewhat easier to get to (connected to the mainland by bridges), Fort De Soto Park includes 5 small offshore islands, which were used for military purposes in the past. The park offers a small museum, trails for hiking and bicycling, a “trail” for kayaking, beaches, picnic areas, as well as the ferry to nearby Egmont Key State Park.

Can you believe they have a Salvador Dalí Museum? It is located on the downtown waterfront between the Mahaffey Theater & Albert Witted Airport and it was built like a fort to protect all the collections from hurricanes. This museum has the largest collection of paintings in the United States from the Spanish artist.

Visit the popular Sunken Gardens, a natural paradise filled with plants and located in the heart of the city.

Go back in time by visiting the Florida Holocaust Museum. Founded by Walter and Edie Loebenberg, this museum honors all the people who died during the Holocaust. It helps make sure nobody forgets about this tragic event in history.

Other things to do in Saint Petersburg:

- Sunshine Skyway Bridge: the 21,877-ft. structure is the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge made from concrete and spans Tampa Bay.
- Museum of Fine Arts
