Buffalo is the second most populous city in the state after New York City. This place grew economically thanks to the development of the automobile industry. You will not see any buffalos around the area- the city got its name after Buffalo Creek. 

The architecture here is very diverse, like everything in New York. You will see a large collection of buildings from the 19th and 20th century all around. This place is an example of preservation because most of the original structures remain intact. For example, the Guaranty Building (since renamed the Prudential Building) was back then a prominent sample of an early high-rise skyscraper. There is a lot of art-deco in here, so if you happen to love this fancy style you are going to be delighted. 

Thanks to the cultural diversity, that is really common in all of New York's cities, elements like the gastronomy are incredibly rich and exquisite. The mixture of Italian, Irish, Jewish, German, Polish, African-American, Greek, and American influences turn out to be delicious in the kitchen. Did you know that the National Geographic Society ranked Buffalo third on their "The World's Top Ten Food Cities" list? If it's the 3rd on the list we can assure you that you and your stomach will be having the time of your lives.

You will be having fun, but you will have to make very tough choices: locally owned restaurants offer Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Arab, Indian, Caribbean, soul food, and French cuisine. If you are a pizza lover (which you probably are), you will find tons of options here. 

As you might already know Buffalo is famous for being the American spot to enjoy nearby Niagara Falls. It's obvious that this is their very best tourist attraction. Buffalo's tourism relies on historical attractions and outdoor recreation. Aside from being completely soaked by the Falls, you can visit places like the Edward M. Cotter fireboat that is actually the world's oldest and active fireboat. This is a National Landmark for a reason. 

If you like animals, you can visit the Buffalo Zoo that will be incredibly interactive and fun and it’s the third oldest zoo in the USA. This place welcomes many people during every year. The zoo exhibits a diverse collection of wild and exotic animals and more than 320 different species of plants. Great news: it’s open year-round.
