Alonso Álvarez de Pineda was the Spanish explorer who gave this city its name. He considered it to be a paradise and it was sort of miraculous that he discovered the local bay during Corpus Christi, a very important Catholic feast that celebrates the resurrection.
This city has a lot of flavors, mainly because it's composed of different cultures and ethnicities. You can find surfers, cowboys, and tons of Hispanic hotness. If you are going to visit you better watch out what you eat- the town was ranked in 2015 by Men's Health as the fattest city in all of the USA.
This place has a lot to offer and most of the touristic spots are located in the North Beach area. Here you will find amazingly fun places to visit and spend quality time.
You can visit the USS Lexington floating museum for a watery experience. Did you know that this ship was used as a set for the movie Pearl Harbor? If you are a movie fan, you'll probably notice once you are here. If you are not, you'll just have fun discovering this historic ship. Nicknamed "The Blue Ghost," this ship is an Essex-class aircraft carrier built during World War II for the United States Navy. The Japanese referred to Lexington as a "ghost" ship for her tendency to reappear after reportedly being sunk. On 1992, the ship was donated to be transformed into a museum and now operates as the "USS Lexington Museum on the Bay."
You can also check out the Texas State Aquarium that is dedicated to promoting environmental conservation and rehabilitation of the wildlife of the Gulf of Mexico. You will get to see bottlenose dolphins, eagles, jelly fish, sea nettles, coral reefs, otters, sharks (you will learn how important they are in the eco-system and why you need to help save them), and stingrays, as well as swamps filled with alligators.
Fishing is a popular recreational activity in Corpus Christi. You will find tons of piers here; you can also go to Oso Bay for wade fishing or jump inside a boat to live a more adventurous activity.
This is one of the USA cities with the highest average of wind speeds. This is great news if you are into wind sports like kite boarding, wind surfing, kite flying, or sailing. If you are looking for a little adrenaline rush, you can let this city be the wind beneath your wings.
