This place is just across Nuevo Laredo in Mexico, all that is between both cities is the Rio Grande river. Laredo is rated the 19th least diverse city overall out of the 313 largest cities in the nation. So if you are planning a visit here, you’d better practice your Spanish a bit before the trip.
Thanks to the geographical proximity with Mexico, this place's main economic resource relies on trade with the Latin American country. More than 47 percent of United States international trade headed for Mexico and more than 36 percent of Mexican international trade crosses through the Laredo port of entry.
Thanks to the blending of two distinct cultures, modern Laredo is unlike anything else in Texas. Not only is it the largest inland port, but it’s one of the most popular Spanish beach resort towns.
You can plan a visit to the Republic of the Río Grande Museum. Built in 1830, it’s one of the oldest buildings in town and the Mexican architecture gives it a unique look and vibe. The museum now displays exhibits meant to show visitors an authentic 1830’s home in Laredo. It’s one of the three most visited historic landmarks in town.
You can also schedule a visit to Lake Casa Blanca International State Park, this is the place where Laredo's fishermen enjoy the tons of bass, catfish, and carp found in the lake and everyone else will enjoy skiing, boating, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, cooking out, and camping. So if you are a little bit more into nature and outdoorsy plans this is a place you need to write down. You can always compliment your adventure pack with a visit to Zacate Creek. This place was very iconic during the war and now is a very nice and tranquil space to spend a day with loved ones.
