Few people know Pueblo by the name of "Steel City." In fact, they are actually one of the largest steel-producing cities in all of the United States. Another cool fact that you might want to know- the city has the least expensive residential real estate in all of Colorado. So if you are looking for a place to live, this might interest you. It is also the 6th most affordable place to live in according to the Cost of Living Index.
You can move around in Pueblo by using the City of Pueblo Transit, this city's bus operator. Fares are $1.00 for one-way & $3.00 for a day pass.
Things to do in Pueblo:
We already told you that Pueblo is all about steel, so it's pretty obvious that they have a museum related to it. Visit the Steelworks Center of the West, a place where you will learn about Pueblo's history through the stories of Western industrialization, coal and iron mining, steel production, and Western migrations.
Go to San Isabel National Forrest to enjoy nature at its best. You can rent a cabin and relax for an entire weekend just surrounded by the beauty that nature gives us. The area is so cool and filled with adventure that it ranks as the third highest in the nation for recreational visits at National Forests.
Visit the Pueblo Zoo for a fun experience with local animals. Did you know that you can even adopt an animal virtually to make sure that the zoo is taking proper care of them? You will find a lot of species and animals here, including zebras and penguins. Yes, you will get the best from Africa, Asia, Australia, and of course, America.
Visit the Rosemount Museum for a little bit of history. This mansion was built in 1893 and was home to the John A. and Margaret Thatcher family. The name comes from Thatcher's favorite flower. Tours are available. Note- the mansion is also reputed to be haunted!
