Cerritos became the fastest growing city in California during 1970-1972. Then the eighties came and with it a large number of Filipino, Korean, Taiwanese, Indian, and Chinese immigrant families.
This place has a Mediterranean climate, which means that the summers will be hot and sticky, and the winters will be cool but not very chilly. This is great news for people who just can't handle extremely cold weather during winters.
Cerritos is not affected by smog or by the fog that is very typical around other Californian beach cities. This place is very breezy and the cooling effect that this provides is simply divine!
The "Cerritos on Wheels" is a fleet of buses that make stops all around the town. These buses are also called COWs to remember the old dairy days of the city. The COWs are so nice that they even have Wi-Fi service inside them. Talk about being modern!
If you are planning to visit Cerritos, then you must check out our fun list of activities:
- Cerritos Auto Square: if you are into cars you are gonna drool once you see this place. A large three-block center accessible through two freeways with all of the known auto dealers.
- Cerritos Public Library: you might be thinking "libraries are not fun at all," but this one was named the Best Public Library by Reader's Digest in 2004, so it deserves a little visit. Forget about old librarians with a bad temper and musty books filled with powder, this is a very modern place where technology serves as an ally to provide a better service.
- The Pat Nixon Park: this recreational park pays tribute to the late First Lady Pat Nixon who spent her childhood here in Cerritos.
